It is advisable to avoid eating and drinking altogether 2 to 3 hours prior to your session. In the days leading up to your session (and always!) drink plenty of water, sessions can run more smoothly when you're well hydrated. Avoiding heavy foods leading up to your session is advisable - such as sugar, alcohol, red meat, dairy, fried foods and heavy carbs. Keep in mind that your body responds best to your session when it is relaxed. As your life allows, please give yourself time before your session for deep breathing, laughing, movement, and a positive, supportive environment to help facilitate a relaxed state of mind.
There is no special clothing needed but we suggest that you wear comfortable clothing. Before your session, the practitioner will briefly exit the room allowing you have a moment alone to remove garments below the waist and put on a privacy robe and a drape, so clothing should be comfortable enough to remove in this way, clothing from the waist up remains on.

While lying on a comfortable table which is covered with disposable waterproof medical grade paper draping, we will begin by making sure you are ready, then, using a lubricated single use speculum only for your session, we will begin with simple insertion at your pace and discretion, to a moderate 1.5 inch depth. Once comfortably inserted, we begin our session, introducing temperature-controlled, purified water at a very gentle low rate of flow into the colon. This will very gently stimulate the colon’s natural response of peristaltic action. For approximately 40 minutes, we will repeat a series of “fills,” where the water flows into the colon, and “releases,” where water and waste flow out. We communicate through this process and it quickly becomes familiar and you acclimate to listening to your body. Deep breathing is encouraged and many people find it to be very relaxing. The process is guided and monitored by an I-ACT certified colon hydrotherapist who remains with you during the entire session. Your dignity and modesty are respected and preserved at all times and robes and drapes for your coverage are provided for everyone's privacy. After the session, you have time to use the bathroom to release any additional waste matter.

It's ideal to simply relax during your session. Most people engage with the therapist and the session is often a great space for asking questions, discussing the progress of the session and the sensations you are experiencing, and sharing tips about healthy digestion and digestive function.

Our typical session is a 75 minute interval with time before and after being very important, the actual colon hydrotherapy portion on the table usually lasts about 40 minutes, this is the standard time in our profession so as to achieve effective colon cleansing without causing electrolyte and hydration imbalance.
In most cases someone new to colon hydrotherapy should expect to undergo 4 sessions to cleanse the entire length of the colon, then transitioning into regular sessions that may occur 2x monthly, 1x monthly, or seasonal sessions from there depending on the individual. A person may need additional support after travel or specific needs to the individual. The practitioner can help advise you based on your needs. We offer packages to create better value for those planning to have multiple sessions.

After your session, your practitioner will remind you of this and help answer any questions: we recommend you relax and listen to your body as everyone is different and there is no ‘one right way’ a person should feel after their session. Most people feel relaxed and lighter in general with more energy, and able to go about their business as usual just as you would after a bowel movement. Some people come for a session and return right back to work. Others may be tired and have mild cramping or mild nausea and should take it slow for the rest of the day. We aim to make Good Move a space for our clients to listen to their body and learn how it responds. We are here if you have questions after you leave and need to chat.
We advise that you eat light easy-to-digest foods for the remainder of the day after your session, avoiding raw, or overly rich, heavy foods. After cleansing we want to be easy on the system, please try to stay away from alcohol. It is just too potent for your freshly cleansed system.
If you’re looking to continue to make more natural choices, we offer and can help advise you and we carry practitioner grade and high quality supplements for purchase to continue supporting your nutritional and health needs.

This is foremost a matter of your personal preference, however please know it's not a problem in fact many practitioners agree it can be a perfectly good time to have a session since the body is already in the midst of a cleansing cycle. You will be atop clean single-use waterproof table drapings during your session.

They are very different, where an enema only reaches the rectum and lowest region of the colon, Colon hydrotherapy reaches the entire length of the colon and is significantly more effective in removing fecal matter excess waste and gas.
-
No it should not be painful and we strive to make it as pleasant an experience as possible for you. Once your single-use speculum insertion is completed and the water flow begins, most people report that they are very comfortable and enjoy the session and what they learn. Some people feel a euphoric sensation afterwards similar to the feeling one may experience after a thorough bowel movement. While there may be some pressure from gas or movement inside the colon, it is occasionally unpleasant for a temporary moment but not painful and mostly short-lived as the waste moves and is eliminated from the body. Your practitioner is there to talk through this with you and also do some gentle abdominal bodywork to help move waste along gently.
